TRANSLATION SERVICES
To be able to translate well you need a very deep understanding of both your source and target languages, strong terminology research skills and a highly developed ability to transfer ideas from one language to the other.
Good knowledge of a foreign language isn’t the only skill that professional translators need. Translators must be absolute masters of their target language, which is why it is standard practice for translators to work from a foreign language into their native language. Most people can express themselves far better in their native language than they can in a foreign language, no matter how long they’ve studied its nuances. Professional translators, myself included, also think of themselves as writers.
Translators not only translate words, they also translate meaning. Appropriate subject-matter skills are essential to the translator. If I don’t understand the subject of a text, I won’t be able to produce a convincing translation of your document in English. That’s why I specialise in certain fields (arts and most social sciences) in which I have a high level of expertise, acquired either through study or professional experience in the field. Conversely, I have never been a doctor or a lawyer, so I do not translate medical or legal texts.

EDITING AND PROOFREADING
In addition to translation I also offer proofreading and editing services for texts written in English, either by native or non-native speakers.
